Artek Pauper Coin Collector

Finnish-Korean design-duo COMPANY designed the Secrets of Finland product family for the FIN/JPN friendship collection at Artek. The product family consists of six handmade ceramic objects, each of which reflects a Finnish ritual associated with the season. This Pauper Coin Collector ceramic piggy bank is inspired by an old Finnish tradition of placing a wooden statue of a pauper outside a church to collect money for the poor. For COMPANY the Pauper is reminiscent of Kaamos (or polar night), the darkest, coldest time of the year when the vulnerable are most in need.
